Echidna and Typhon

Echidna and Typhon produced the all mythical creatures. Typhon is the husband of Echidna and the last descendant of Titans. He is taller to stars in the sky and he is the most deadliest monster.

Nemean lion

Nemean lion is a extremely dangerous creature which is a offspring of Typhon (A giant) and Echidna (Mother of all monsters). It’s roar can also harm to others. It is killed by Hercules.

Medusa

Medusa is a half women half snake creature. Once she was a very attractive young women. She had a affair with the Poseidon and they were caught in the temple of Athena, making love. Athena got angry by this (She is not good with the Poseidon also) and transform the Medusa to a deadly creature. Medusa has a gaze which cause the onlookers to stone statues. Medusas’ hair is snakes. Thousands of snakes are hanging down from the head of the Medusa instead of beautiful long black hair which she had before transforming to this animal. Medusa has a snake body down from the hip and has a upper body of a women. It’s a famous fact that the head of the Medusa can be use as a deadly weapon to fight against with almost every mythical creature. Hero Perseus, son of a Zeus fought with Medusa and got the head of it. Then he won many battles with the help of the head of Medusa. Medusa used to live in a lair which is near to the Underworld. She has bow and arrow as her weapons.

Pegasus

Pegasus are white color horses which has two large wings to fly. Pegasus were used widely in the myth wars.

Unicorn

Unicorn is a horse like animal which has a horn on the head. It is a very powerful and long living creature. It’s blood can be used to cure any kind of disease and even can save a man who is an inch close to death. But after drinking the Unicorn blood, the life will be cursed. It is has very shinny white color and it’s blood is silver color.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians

“Percy Jackson and the Olympians” is a book series consisting of 5 books. Percy Jackson is the mortal son of Poseidon. The first book of the list is “The lightening Thief”. It’s about the lost of Zeus lightning bolt and the main suspect is the Percy as he is the Son of Poseidon. It is fulfilled with great number of adventures and it’s a great book.

Titanomachy

Titanomachy is the battle between Gods and Titans which held over more than 10 years. Cronus, the king of the Titans, ate all his children because he thought that children will overthrow him and take the control of the world. But Rhea, his wife, brought the youngest one, Zeus, into a cave and raised him up. After he grew up he got a poisonous wine and gave it to Cronus. Being immortal, the other children of Cronus can’t be killed. So they raised in the Cronus stomach. After Cronus vomited the others, they united with Zeus and stand against the Titans. Then the War began. The war between Titans and their offspring, Gods. Cronus lead the Titans consisting of his eleven siblings while Zeus lead the Gods consisting with his siblings. Hecatonchires (Hundred-handed), the Gigantes (Giants) and Cyclopes too joined with Zeus because they were imprisoned by Titans. Cyclopes made the Zeus famous weapon lightning blot. Hecatonchires made a trident for Poseidon which can shake the earth and shatter any object other than the Earth, a invisible helmet for Hades which gave invisibility to the wearer.

Finally the Gods won from the battle after imprisoned the Cronus and rest of the Titans in the Tartarus except the titan Atlas. He was punished by giving him the task to hold the earth by his shoulders forever. Hecatonchires was assigned to guard the Tartarus, the deepest pot in the underworld.

Poseidon

Poseidon is the god of sea and earthquakes. He is very similar to his brother, Zeus, in the case of women. He got many children from mortal women and goddesses. The “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” book series is based on the mortal son of Poseidon, Percy Jackson. Those are top selling books in all over the world. He is very similar to Zeus in shape and appearance.

He had a love affair with Medusa in the temple of Athena and then Athena transformed the Medusa in to a monstrous creature. Poseidon and Athena had a contest to win the city Athens and Poseidon lost the contest. So he is not very good with Athena. Athena relieved her anger from poor Medusa. Then Medusa also got angry with Poseidon.

Hades

Hades is the god of Underworld and brother of Zeus. As he is the king of the underworld and dead, he looks so gloomy and scary. After defeating the Titans from Titanomachy, the war between gods and Titans, Hades got the unseen realm, the underworld to rule. However he is not happy with what he got after doing so much in the Titanomachy. So he is angry with the other gods in the Olympus.

Hades duty is to maintain the balance between life and dead. His wife is Persephone, who was tricked by Hades and get into the Underworld. Persephone is the daughter of Zeus and is the Queen of the underworld. But she is not bad as Hades.

Rhea

Rhea is the mother of Olympian Gods and goddesses and wife of the Cronus, Queen of the Titans. She was daughter of Uranus and Gaia. She was the Titaness  of marriage, women and birth, which are lately ruled by her daughter, Hera.

Cronus

Before the time of Gods, the Titans ruled the world. Cronus was the king of the Titans. His mother is Gaia the titan of the Nature. He is the Titan of the Earth and youngest of the titans generation. Gods were children of Cronus including Zeus, Hades, Poseidon, Hera etc. Cronus was held imprisoned in Tartarus, a hell pit below the underworld, by his own sons Zeus, Hades and Poseidon.

Rhea is the mother of Gods and is wife of the Cronus. Cronus was scared that he was going to overthrown by his own sons like he overthrew his own father, Uranus. So he ate all the children except Zeus. Rhea tricked the Cronus by giving him a rock to eat when Zeus was born. After Zeus grew up, he gave a poisoned vine to his mother and asked her to give it to his father to vomit his brothers and sisters. Cronus was tricked by Rhea and he vomited all of them. Then they made the Zeus the king of Olympus and began the war between Gods and Titans.

Cronus pictures are too disgusting. So I’m not going to include a picture of him. smile_wink

Hera

Hera is the wife of Zeus and, of course, the queen of Olympus. She is the goddess of marriage, women and birth. She hates the Hercules, the mortal son of Zeus and mortal women, Alcmene. She also betrayed the Zeus and tried to rule the Olympus but always unsuccessful. Her most famous son is Ares, the god of the war.

Zeus

Zeus is the king of the gods. Hera is his wife. All the immortal and mortal sons and daughters of Zeus can be found at following site. http://www.theoi.com/Olympios/ZeusFamily.html. The greatest weakness of Zeus is he is getting very sensitive when it comes to love and romance. Most of his mistakes and faults are done because of his this weakness. Zeus has 2 brothers, Poseidon and Hades. He is the god of sky, thundering and lightening. He has a the most powerful weapon in the universe, i.e. the lightening bolt. His mother and father were titans, Rhea and Cronus.Zeus became the king of the Olympus after killing his own father, Cronus, and freeing his siblings from the Cronus.
